Church Activities- St. Vincent de Paul Food Fairs and COVID Testing at SMDP

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been hosting monthly food fairs to address the needs of the community during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The food fairs are drive through events and are sponsored with grocery items delivered from the Houston Food Bank.

St. Martin de Porres parishioners have been assisting with these distributions. Cars line up at Coy Street to enter at Barrett Road. Clients enter at the back gate of St. Martin de Porres , give information, and are instructed to open their trunks.  All COVID-19 protocol is strictly adhered to.

Volunteers prepare the grocery items by boxing them up so that distribution is easier. The parking lot is marked off for the line of vehicles to navigate through the parking lot, pick up their grocery items, and exit.

Volunteers prepare the boxes for distribution.

These once monthly food fairs are normally held on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

St. Martin de Porres Church has also served as a COVID-19 testing site through the Harris County Public Health Department.  This is proving to be of great benefit to the community of Barrett Station.
